Her First Safari
“A little girl’s priceless connection in Africa.”
In the hustle-and-bustle of Paris, a loving father sought to share experiences from the wild stillness of a place like no other. Where nature puts a fast-paced city lifestyle into perspective; where the stars shine brighter and the sounds of the night sing you to sleep. He wanted to share a world where the Big Five reside. Africa.
Caroline was faced with the opportunity to create a story that fostered connection in Southern Africa’s most iconic safari destinations all the while placing the little girl centre stage. The journey was carefully curated and thought out to reveal Africa’s enchanting nature.
As a successful businessman, time-constraints were a major challenge for the father and so Caroline arranged for the family to travel by private plane in order to access the remote destinations seamlessly and efficiently. Specially selected lodges and camps provided the breathtaking close encounters with wildlife while Africa’s landscapes set the stage for the magic moments of connection on her first safari.

Caroline arranged for a surprise pre-trip package to be delivered to the family’s home in Paris; in it: children focused educational books, African inspired art and craft materials, as well as a plush toy elephant - an animal the little girl would have only seen in storybooks and on television. This “safari starter-kit” grew her excitement and anticipation for her upcoming adventure. The remainder of the big five plush toys were specially delivered to the various lodges prior to the family’s arrival and at each destination on her first evening, a special turndown was arranged where she received a toy to add to her collection. Eventually, through her experiences and by the end of the trip, she would have a soft version of the Big Five to take home to Paris.
With our experienced team, and our great guides and trusted relationships on the ground, accessing remote areas was seamless and efficient. With that, we were able to tailor an unforgettable journey throughout some of Africa’s must-see destinations.
The family started their adventure in Zimbabwe at Singita Pamushana - one of Classic Escapes preferred destinations. Raised up on a hillside which overlooks the beautiful wilderness and a dam below, Singita is deserving of its iconic status and reputation. Having their own private guide and vehicle, the family were able to dictate their safari schedule to explore the expansive space and beauty of the private reserve. It was the perfect choice for the family and personal touches were all made possible because of the strong relationships Caroline had built up over the years with management and ownership.
Caroline wanted the little girl to get an idea of not only how big Africa is, but also how completely contrasting the various biomes are. And so their chartered flight took them to the next leg of the trip - Botswana - where the family first stayed at Jack’s Camp in the remote Makgadikgadi salt pans. Suddenly they were surrounded by all encompassing beauty where the focus was on the huge expanse. Here, the little girl could stargaze in stillness, interact with curious meerkats and learn about indigenous Bushmen - the oldest tribe in southern Africa.
This magical sanctuary became a vast, natural playground for the little girl and the family could relax knowing she would not be in harm’s way. She could see all the animals she had been learning about before visiting and as a family they could also spot the smaller animals that were often overlooked when visiting a Big Five destination: bat-eared fox, brown hyena, and antelope.

There was no better way to end their trip than with a visit to the iconic Okavango Delta. Staying over at Camp Jao; a base from which the family were able to access both land and vast bodies of water. Here, they were able to see an abundance of hippos and an array of Africa’s iconic bird-life. When the vibrant sun kissed the ground one last time for the Parisian family, they realised that Africa truly was a place like no other. With her plush toy animals in hand, the little girl didn’t fall asleep with a heavy heart on her last night. She knew that her new found sense of wonder and cuddly friends would help her to preserve the memories of this majestic land - a place she had made a priceless connection with.
“Merci Caroline, it was a fantastic experience with excellent destinations, extremely qualified staff, and beautiful ranges. Your organisation was absolutely perfect!”
